It’s a good idea to use one of the free web-mail providers to set up an extra account.  This way you can keep your regular mailbox free of spam or un-wanted newsletters.  You can use it for signing up for forums, specials from your favorite online store, etc.

There are some web-mail providers specifically set up for this purpose:

Regular web-mail providers:

Google Mail - https://mail.google.com

Yahoo - http://mail.yahoo.com

Microsoft - http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

You can also try using an alias in your regular e-mail address. For instance, in Gmail you use your regular e-mail and then a qualifier added to that. For instance:

uniquegeek@gmail.com – regular e-mail

uniquegeek+bestbuyspecials@gmail.com – An alias to use when you sign up for a newsletter.

This way, you can filter anything sent to the alias e-mail to go to a specific folder.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
